Parent Symposium Nov 29th 2025

November 29, 2025

Description

Parent Symposium

About the Symposium: ARCQE’s Child Development Supports (CDS) Project is excited to once again partner with Alberta Health Services (AHS) to host the 2025 Parent Symposium. This free online event is designed for families, educators, and staff. Together, we’ll explore practical strategies and insights to support children’s growth and development. This year’s sessions focus on three key topics:

  • Sensory processing: Understanding “just right'- Learning to work with your sensory system can be easy for some children. Others need support from their parents and caregivers to learn how to get into the "just right" zone. Noticing how children respond to different sensations gives insight into their overall development.
  •  Emotional Regulation, Introduction to Managing Emotions- Caregivers will learn about emotional regulation, its importance and how to support its development. Watching how children manage big feelings offers clues about their growing skills.
  • Building Early Social Interactions- Caregivers will learn ways to support social interactions between the child and their caregiver through everyday activities. Early back-and-forth moments show important steps in building relationships and communication.

Participants may choose to attend one, two, or all sessions, making it easy to tailor the experience to your needs. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other families, educators, and AHS professionals for meaningful conversations about supporting children. The Parent Symposium will take place online on Saturday, November 29, 2025, using the AHS Webinar platform. No additional software is required. Log-in instructions will be emailed to registered participants two days before the event.

Please note: Certificates of participation and release time funding will not be provided for this event. It is offered as a free learning opportunity for families and educators.
